A closer look at Chad Adams for NCGOP chair

Posted by: jhs in NCGOPChairmanChad Adams on Print PDF

Chad AdamsNow that we've had some shake up in the candidates for NCGOP state chair, I think its worth taking a closer look at Chad Adams and his qualifications. It seems apparent to me that Adams has a wide network of contacts throughout the state as a result of his work for the Locke Foundation.

Since the GOP was founded on the principle of local control, and Adams has sought to empower grassroots activists during his work with the Center for Local Innovation, this too seems to amplify his position of strength.

You can read more about Adams and his plan for rejuvenating the state GOP after the jump.

I think it is clear that the NCGOP, of which I have been a member for more than 20 years, needs a fresh injection of committed, determined, full-time leadership.

Of all the candidates in the race, I see Adams as having the talent, time and energy to lead the Republican Party in this state into a successful, majority party future.

Chad Adams' plan for the NC Republican Party

Chairman

The North Carolina Republican Party needs a full-time Chairman, period! The NC House, Senate, and leadership are dominated by liberal Democrats. So too is Congress and the Presidency. In our state, we need a full time chair whose sole dedication is to raise money, recruit candidates and challenge the liberal machinery in our state.

We have a great deal of work that needs to be done quickly and consistently. Conservative principles grow jobs, economies and restore financial security.

Technology

We need to update, understand and utilize new technology to communicate with, recruit for and expand our great conservative base. And while the state party needs to be updated, every county might well have different technological needs. We need to leverage from counties that have moved ahead to assist those that have not. This is a methodical process and what works for one will not work for all.

Needs Assessment

90% of solving a problem is first understanding it. We will work with our district chairman to do a county by county assessment of what needs are and are not being met. We need to be a bottom up party and that starts with ensuring that they have the full support of the state party. As we address those needs we will restore the trust of those that have built great county organizations.

Trust

We must restore the trust of the people who helped build this great party. Over the past decade a great deal of trust has eroded as a Republican party in Congress grew federal spending dramatically and increased earmarks by 1000% between 1994 and 2006. Many of our activists now participate in issue oriented groups because the party is not focusing on issues. We need to remember that conservative issues are OUR issues. We need them back. In restoring the trust we can restore our ability to raise money and win elections.

Challenge the Left Daily!

Never before have we seen such a dramatic move from freedom and capitalism towards oppressive regulation and socialism in our lifetimes. It is imperative that a full-time chairman actively respond to these attacks on freedom. Rallying our base, providing clear and concise conservative ideas that make sense and protect family values is critical to restoring our party in the hearts and minds of North Carolinians.

Fundraising

The NCGOP needs a financial team dedicated to returning the business interest to our party. Only conservatives believe in limited government and the free market. We must remind businesses that our beliefs are their beliefs and that promoting a liberal agenda in any way is only undermining their ability to succeed. Simply put, we must do better! In many instances our candidates are outspent by 3 and 4 to 1. Add in the special interest money and special interest groups like ACORN and MoveOn.org and the picture becomes far bleaker. We must restore the trust, we must get our party excited, get our folks activated to return business interests to our party. Conservatives are often out raised by our liberal opponents. But we're better at spending money, as we close the gap on fundraising, we'll win more often because our ideas are better! We can and will improve our ability to raise money, period!

"As a reminder & clarification" opinion and entries posted on this site are the opinions of the individual posting, well Sir, someone should report that to Chad Adams as he is announcing that ConservativeNC has endorsed him. So WHO is lying? You Mr. Williams or him? Is jhs Chad Adams and he is posting his own writings but covering up with "jhs"? It is the opinion of NC and other candidates that if ConservativeNC is bias as it certainly appears why not name this AdamsConservativeNC and be done with it.

I had already posted this same clarification as a comment on Mr. Adams' Facebook page. There are 150+ people who post on this site, all with their own opinions. Every individual has their own biases, the site has no specific bias other than conservative.

A couple of additional notes

I just checked, and this site now has 238 registered users. Any user can submit a post for consideration (it will appear on the site once a moderator has reviewed it to make sure it is not slanderous, profane, etc.).

As previously stated, all candidates are welcome to post. David Robinson was among the first (if not the first) candidate to do so (http://www.conservativenc.com/...gger=David Robinson&Itemid=3). I hope the other candidates will do so as well (if they have not already).

Sam: As I stated over at Under the Dome, your wild accusations are not warranted. Attacking three people now as liars is uncalled for.

Perhaps Mr. Adams had a bit too much elan after reading my post, but that is no reason to besmirch the integrity of three people.

My suggestion is that you get busy and promote your preferred candidate and we will all be the better educated on the candidates vying to be the next leader of the GOP.

We can and should turn this state into a majority Republican state and there is no reason for us to fall into the myopic internecine battles that have kept us beholden to the corruption and nepotism of the NCDP for the last 100-plus years.

Sir once again you are not correct. I voiceed my "free will" and you attacked me with "wild accusations" that I have not done! You have attacked me now twice. I merely stated that if this site is endorsing Chad Adams then do so and this is not the site that Conservatives believed it to be. You have attacked me on this site and the Dome and all is uncalled for. You yourself stated that Adams had a bit too much ELAN after reading your post and this has been noted in much of what he is doing.

Sir we do need to turn our state into a majority Republican state;however with the battles you are creating when others state their "free will" is uncalled for. It is regretable that people disagree with you and you attack them.

Settle Down!

Message to all:

Mr. Stone: I think Mr. Sykes is correct in describing your comments; they are very accusatory.

Mr. Sykes: I think you responded in a manner every bit as accusatory as Mr. Stone's comments.

Mr. Adams: You were out of line to claim that this site had endorsed you without verifying that fact.

To all: calm down, check your emotions and egos at the door, and focus on defeating the liberals.

Truth Sayer: I think your assessment is correct. I tend to get bent out of shape when someone falsely accuses me of being a liar and claims I have taken actions that never occurred.

I can't control the actions of anyone else, but I can accurately state what actions I have taken and why I took them.

Thanks for your perspective.

Mr. Sykes, thanks for your note. It takes a strong person to publicly state that they have made a mistake. I appreciate your willingness to do so. We are all human. There are people that set me off as well.

smilies/sad.gif It is sad that adults behave in this way over politics. Chad Adams is not my choice but all of this is not favorable for the party. The democrates are enjoying this and believe this, they do follow this site! It seems that Adams owes everyone an apology. Regardless, let's pull the party together, do not let Adams or anyone tear it down! This is a critical time for our nation and party!

Katie: I'm still not sure what Chad Adams is supposed to have done to owe anyone an apology for.

It seems to me that I simply posted my views on Chad's candidacy and someone else came along tossing about wild accusations of conspiracy, etc.

The back and forth between myself and that person has nothing to do with Chad's candidacy.

FYI
written by Frank Williams, March 16, 2009
Jeff, Chad posted on his Facebook status that he had been "endorsed by ConservativeNC" and included a link to this blog post. I posted a clarification (basically the same as my comment above) as a comment on his Facebook status, and he later removed that status. That is likely what Katie is referring to.

That much I can understand, Frank, but it hardly seems like something that rises to the level of "tearing down the party" and necessitating an apology. Could it be more related to the amorphous nature of our website that Chad, or someone maintaining his facebook account, confused my post with an endorsement by the site?

Once you explained the nature of this website in further detail, it seems to me whatever misstep occurred was corrected. That seems to me a proper way to handle a facebook misstep.

What I still remain miffed by is the invective hurled about towards Chad and myself as a result of this post. That seems to me a backward step toward the failures of conservatives in this state in the past and hardly a sign of the intelligence and spirit of collaboration needed to build a stronger Republican Party.
