Matthew Ridenhour ... "A GOP Primary Surprise" E-mail

RidenhourThursday's Charlotte Observer had a surprisingly positive article about Charlotte Tea Party Leader Matthew Ridenhour:

 Some Snippets:

"There were some folks, and various media, who downplayed my candidacy and didn't give it a chance," said Ridenhour. "People were judging their candidacy based on me, saying I'm a one-issue candidate. I'm just the messenger. It's the message that people are believing in - limited government, individual rights, personal responsibility."

... Tuesday's voting showed that the Tea Party movement has legs, at least among the sliver of people who voted. Turnout was 4.3 percent of registered voters, even less than the 5-6 percent projected by the Mecklenburg Board of Elections.

Slightly more than 20,000 people voted Tuesday. One Tea Party in uptown Charlotte in April drew 2,000 people.

Tea Party... Peacock, a moderate Republican, said he didn't know if Tea Party support would be enough for Ridenhour to win in the general election. Charlotte Republicans who were elected citywide - Peacock, McCrory and at-large member John Lassiter - are far less conservative than the Tea Party movement.

Congratulations, Matt on a great primary ... now on to a more important goal, it's time to beat some liberals in November.  If you are interested in helping Matt out, visit http://matthewridenhour.com/.
